This historic estate, dating from 1834, centres around Belvidere House where reception and dining facilities may be found.

Guests are accommodated in individual cottages which echo the simple Georgian architecture of Belvidere House. Each cottage offers single or double storey accommodation, each with verandah or balcony offering lagoon or garden views, as well as an airy living room with comfortable sofas and a cosy fireplace.

A fully equipped kitchen allows guests the independence to sample local organic market produce and wines. One, two or three double en-suite bedrooms are decorated with locally produced furniture and fabrics that echo the colourful gardens.

In addition to the listed services and facilities, all cottages offer a selection of dvds being available from reception, a toaster, re-chargeable torch and complimentary tea, coffee, fresh milk and home-made shortbread. Each bedroom has a mosquito repellent and guest toiletries.

We invite you to our restaurant where we serve an à la carte menu each evening. Guests are seated either in the dining-rooms in the House, or outside on the verandah when weather permits. With the hue of polished yellowwood, and gentle candlelight we let our food permeate the senses.

On the Garden Route we are able to source excellent natural produce such as locally produced cheeses, ostrich meat and Karoo lamb. Knysna is justifiably famous for its oysters, both cultivated and wild, and Calitzdorp claims to be the Port capital of South Africa.

We prepare a selection of dishes which will give you a taste of our local produce and which we hope you will enjoy. Venison may be a new taste to you and we recommend that it be lightly cooked, medium/rare to medium.

Knysna is situated in the heart of the Garden Route, approximately 75 kms from George airport and 260 kms from Port Elizabeth. The town lies on the Knysna river estuary, also known as the lagoon, and the sea is accessed through The Heads, narrow sandstone cliffs which protect the lagoon from the sea.

The Knysna basin has been declared a National Park and a wide variety of activities are enjoyed on or next to the water. Superb beaches offer swimming, surfing and long walks, whilst the surrounding forest offers hiking, mountain biking and scenic drives. Knysna's town hosts a wide variety of shops, galleries and restaurants, and there is something for everyone to enjoy.

By Car:
- Turn off the N2 between Knysna and Sedgefield at the Brenton / Belvidere sign (6 km from Knysna) at the bridge crossing the lagoon.
- After the N2 turn-off, proceed up the hill past Crabs Creek towards Brenton-on-Sea for approximately 1 km before turning left to Belvidere.
- Turn left and then take the first right into Belvidere Estate.
- At the intersection, take Lower Duthie Drive and follow the circular drive until you reach Belvidere Manor.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 29 days before date of arrival, 10 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 15 days before date of arrival, 30 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 3 days before date of arrival, 65 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 1 day before date of arrival, 80 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: Children older than 10 years are welcome.
There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.

Deposit Policy: 50 percent of the total amount will be charged at least 45 days prior to arrival and is refundable.
No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is included.

Internet: Internet via modem is available in the business centre and is free of charge.
Wireless Internet Hotspot is available in public areas and is free of charge.

Meal Plan: Full English breakfast is included in the room rate.
