Each room at Wizards Thatch has its own indulgent character. It boasts one of the largest and most comfortable four-poster beds in the county, draped in red and gold tapestries.

During your stay you will be pampered with luxurious bathrobes, complimentary slippers, fine toiletries and a superb hospitality tray. To complete the romantic atmosphere, you can sit outside by the pond, light the candelabra, and sip your drinks.

Wizards Thatch forms part of the historic, 400-year-old Summerhill Cottages. The cottages lie at the foot of The Edge, a reputed mystical sandstone outcrop, which stands guard over the Cheshire Plain at Alderley Edge. It takes its name from a local legend involving a wizard, King Arthur, his knights and a farmer.

Walk down London Road, Alderley Edge and you can be tempted by some of the finest cuisine this side of the West End.

Alderley Edge and neighbouring Wilmslow offer a choice of Italian, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean, as well as Tapas and a variety of superb English restaurants. The No 15 Wine Bar is one such favourite, serving superb home cooking, and another is The Wizard On The Edge, with its modern British food served in traditional surroundings.

One restaurant to note is The Alderley Restaurant at the Alderley Edge Hotel. This wonderful restaurant has won many awards and boasts a comprehensive wine with over 500 wines and 100 champagnes to choose from.

The village of Alderley Edge boasts some of the finest restaurants and bars in the country and is famous for its celebrity clientele, which include many premiership footballers (David Beckham being a former resident), actors and top business professionals who enjoy the lifestyle which this small village has to offer.

Here you can enjoy some of the finest views across Cheshire towards the Peak District National Park. During your stay you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Edge, as well as the beautiful walkways through oak, beech woodland and prehistoric and Roman copper mines.

Alderley Edge is surrounded by other National Trust properties such as Lyme Park, where they filmed Pride & Prejudice, and Tatton Park, where the interior was used for Brideshead Revisited. Also nearby are Dunham Massey and Little Morton Hall, probably Britain’s finest timber-framed moated manor house.

The village is associated with a romantic local legend which tells of the wizard Merlin and a band of sleeping warriors who will rise and save our country in its hour of need.

By Car:
- Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 19.
- Join the A556 towards Knutsford.
- After 2 miles, turn left onto the A537 signposted to Knutsford.
- From Knutsford, take the B5085 through Mobberley to Alderley Edge.
- Within Alderley Edge, take the B5087 signposted Macclesfield.
- Wizards Thatch is 100 yards on the left at Summerhill Cottages.

The cottage is just 10 minutes from Manchester Airport and within minutes of the M6 and M56.
