Ilfracombe and the rugged Golden Coast of North Devon have something to offer everyone. Ilfracombe is the leading resort in the region and there is plenty to see and do, with snooker clubs, a cinema, a theatre, discos, a heated swimming pool, a paddling pool, bathing beaches, an 18-hole golf course and a 9-hole pitch and putt course. During the summer season, the resort offers a full programme of entertainment.

If you are at all interested in being outside, Ilfracombe covers almost every field of activity you can think of, from the fabulous Torrs walks, to sea kayaking, fishing, golfing, surfing at nearby beaches, and quad biking for those who prefer to see the countryside at high speed!

The surrounding countryside is indeed spectacular, with sea views, cliff walks and coastal drives. To the west are Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton, with surfing, bathing and miles of sandy beaches. All the facilities of Barnstaple, North Devon's market town, are just beyond. To the east are Combe Martin, Lynton, Lynmouth and Exmoor, a sight to behold in summer and autumn when nature changes its colours. With historic churches, stately mansions, traditional markets and quiet coves, there are many good reasons why the region is known as the Golden Coast.

Ilfracombe is also a hidden gem for foodies, with a bewildering array of fine restaurants. You have the choice of a stylish lunch at the Quay or delicious and sophisticated modern European dinner for 2 at the Gendarmerie or one of the other superb restaurants on Fore Street. However, if you fancy a freshly baked hand-made pizza, a fine curry, or simply well-cooked fish and chips, there is something for everyone and every budget without compromising on quality.
