Samphire at Ham, the new restaurant at The Blazing Donkey, was opened to critical acclaim in February 2008 by Aldo Zilli, Italian celebrity chef, author and restaurateur. The restaurant claims to offer "fine food, casually", the motto of Steve Hogben-Lambert, head chef, who offers locally sourced, freshly prepared produce on a cooked-to-order basis. With so many harbours within easy reach, fish is a particular favourite of Hogben-Lambert's, although there are plenty of other dishes from which guests may choose. Dining guests can expect to dine in most comfortable surroundings; seated in cosy leather chairs, eating over large oak tables and attended to by professional, courteous waiting staff. Winter log fires are always ablaze, and in the warmer summer months, the terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, overlooking the beautifully tended gardens. Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later, the first night will be charged. In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome. All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years are charged GBP 15.00 per night and person for cots.
