Area informationTop
In the heart of Scarborough, Stuart House’s great location makes it a good base for exploring the town and all it has to offer, including the historic castle, the North Bays Miniature Railway, the Sea Life Centre and Oliver's Mount racing circuit. Scarborough is one of the locations for filming the popular TV show, the Royal. For keen golfers, there are plenty of good courses nearby and for those who prefer a good walk; there is the Cleveland Way and many other attractive walks in the surrounding area.

Whitby, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, is also within easy reach. This lovely port town is also famous for being the place where James Cook set sail on the Endeavour. Today, Whitby is home to an authentic replica of the ship, traditionally built by Whitby craftsmen.

Also in the surrounding region and well worth a visit are Flamingo Land, Castle Howard and the North York Moors, with its old steam trains running through the countryside made famous by the TV programme, Heartbeat. The city of York is also just a short distance away, or you could visit The Deep in Hull or Dalby Forest, renowned for its cycle tracks and walks, along with Go Ape.

A large selection of literature on many further activities and places to walk and visit in the surrounding area is available from Stuart House.
