This Renaissance castle was built in 1630 and was owned for centuries by the Starhemberg family. During the past years it was turned into a classy hotel by its new owners, the Thiery family. Photos:

The restaurant and its unique, world-famous terrace present a wonderful ambiance for your meal. Mario Bachhofer and his team will pamper you with local delicacies and international gourmet dishes. The wine cellar features a wide range of quality wines from the Wachau and other parts of Austria, as well as the well-known international brands. Situated on a rock high above the Danube in the picturesque village of Dürnstein, which is famous for hosting King Richard the Lionheart in the 12th century, the castle is one of the most photographed buildings in Austria. The surrounding area invites you to taste Austria’s best wines, to ride your bike along the Danube, to hike in the hills or to visit one of the castles and museums in the region. Naturally, the Wachau can also be discovered from a boat. The Danube and its beaches are a popular recreation area. The proximity to Vienna gives you many opportunities even in bad weather. If you stay more than 5 nights we invite you for a "surprise dinner" (valid for max. 2 persons and excl. drinks). If you stay more than 10 nights we invite you for one night (also available as a gift certificate). For an additional charge of EUR 30 per person we offer a 4-course half-board menu.
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 10 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified later or in case of no-show, 90 percent of all nights will be charged. Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome. All children under 6 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All older children or adults are charged EUR 45.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included. Service charge is included. City/tourist tax is included. Internet: Internet via modem is available in the business centre and costs EUR 2.50 per hour.
