Hotel informationTop
There has been a house on this site for generations but it was only in 1979 that this attractive family home was converted into a small hotel. Andrea and David Levene bought the hotel in 1986 and since then have made many additions, whilst maintaining its appeal as a stylish and elegant family run hotel to have as your base while staying in the south of England.

The elegant, award-winning Truffles Restaurant (2 AA Rosette - 2008) really is a treat to dine in. It is an exquisite setting in relaxing surroundings offering excellent modern European cuisine and an extensive list of fine wines. Lighter meals can be enjoyed in Muffins Brasserie.

Stroll around the grounds, look out for the many statues amongst the shrubs, look at the Temple Room at the end of the garden, sit on the Balloon Patio under the pergola, or just marvel at the selection of over 70 different Tiffany lamps, both inside and out.

Room informationTop
The hotel has 34 individually designed and furnished en suite bedrooms, no 2 are alike. Each bedroom offers the highest standards of luxury and all modern facilities to suit the most discerning tastes. Please see individual room descriptions for a complete list of facilities on offer.

Rooms are now fully equipped with high speed internet wireless access. Adaptors are supplied for any guest without a wireless card for their laptop (for a small security deposit).

The thriving market town of Alton offers a delightful mix of historic buildings and modern shops and arcades. It is well known for its regular Tuesday market day as well as other markets and fairs. Guided walks explore the town's history. Details can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre.

The Curtis Museum has one of the finest local history collections in Hampshire. It houses a wonderful array of objects including the celebrated Roman cup found near Selborne, and an impressive Anglo Saxon buckle. Its Gallery of Childhood is packed with toys, children's books and dolls dating back to the 18th century.

The 11th century St Lawrence Church was part of the Battle of Alton, a skirmish in the Civil War. Look carefully and you can still see some bullet holes in the west doors.

The village of Chawton, famously the home of Jane Austen, is nearby and the Watercress Line steam railway goes from Alton, trundling through pleasant countryside through the village of Ropley and on to Alresford.
