In keeping with the city's diverse architecture, varying from the medieval age right up to the contemporary, the Lodge is a beautifully maintained Edwardian period building full of original features and charm.

The quiet cul-de-sac location means you are assured a good night's sleep, and the sunny position means bedrooms are bright and welcoming all year. Alcuin Lodge's large dining room overlooks an old fashioned bowling green on the edge of the city, but is still a mere 5 minute stroll from town through the charming Museum Gardens.

It has wonderful Edwardian furniture and is tastefully decorated in soft tones and comes with all listed facilities.

It has wonderful Edwardian furniture and a window seat in the bay window. This room also has a large en suite bathroom. It is tastefully decorated in soft tones and comes with all listed facilities.

Alcuin Lodge's large dining room overlooks an old fashioned bowling green on the edge of the city, but is still a mere 5 minute stroll into town through the charming Museum Gardens. Surprisingly compact with numerous incredible historical buildings, from 14th century pubs to medieval churches, York is also a thriving modern city, with fantastic shopping and fashionable bars and restaurants. York also boasts numerous art galleries and a thriving music and theatre scene.

Guests wishing to venture further afield may wish to explore the Dales, or take a trip to the coastal towns of Whitby or Robin Hood's Bay; all easily accessible from the guest house.

On Foot
From the railway station:
- Turn left out of the station towards the Minster.
- Cross the river via Landal Bridge.
- At the first set of traffic lights, turn left on to Exhibition Square. Take the next left at the lights, to Bootham.
- Take the 3rd left turn in to Bootham Terrace (just before you reach the Churchill Hotel).
- Continue until the road opens out, look right, and there we stand (10 minutes’ walk).

By Car
From the South , via the A64:
- Travel east on the A64.
- Take the A1237 and continue for 5 miles, following signs to Thirsk (A19).
- At the roundabout that intersects the A19, turn right (York), continue for 2 miles.
- Look out for a large hotel on your left: The Churchill.
- Take the first right after the hotel: Bootham Terrace. Continue until the road opens out, look right, and there we stand.

From Hull (the East):
- After reaching York on the 1079, turn left down the A64 section of the ring road.
- Then, take the A1237 until the A19 intersection.
- Turn left for York, and continue for 2 miles.
- Look out for a large hotel on your left: The Churchill.
- Follow as above.

As the house does not have 24-hour check-in, please contact them at least one week before your arrival date with an estimated time of arrival to ensure that someone is there to greet you.

Cancellation policyTop
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 4 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
All older children or adults are charged GBP 15.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.

Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Internet: Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge.

Meal Plan: Full English breakfast is included in the room rate.

Parking: Free public parking is possible on site.

Pets: Pets are allowed on request. Charges may be applicable.
