The Langdale Hotel & Country Club is a natural woodland haven with streams and tarns, dotted with massive millstones and other carefully preserved reminders of its history as a 19th century gunpowder works.

In harmony with its beautiful and peaceful setting, the bedrooms have been converted from original historic buildings close to the main facilities, some alongside the sparkling waters of the river, others looking onto high fells or nestling in the wooded beauty of the Estate.

The Country Club is considered one of the biggest and best facilities in the North of England. Guests can enjoy outstanding views of the surrounding Estate from the 20 metre pool and the twelve-person spa pool.

The Langdale offers a choice of dining including the intimate Purdey's Restaurant, the more informal bistro style Terrace Restaurant and a traditional Lakeland pub, Wainwrights Inn.

The hotel offers 57 en suite rooms with bath and shower combinations. As well as the facilities listed in "room descriptions", each room offers free Wi-Fi broadband access, bathrobes, smoke alarms, heating control and electric shaver points. All rooms are non-smoking.

Purdey's Restaurant:
Located in the main hotel building, Purdey's Restaurant has recently won an AA rosette for the quality of the food and service. It has been refurbished in the style of an old mill, with oak floors, original stone and water features creating an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. As a feature there is an original cannon used to test gunpowder in the last century. Friendly service and attention to detail ensure a wonderful dining experience. After your meal, retire to Hobson's Bar with its comfortable seating beside a gentle fountain water feature.

The Terrace Restaurant:
Overlooking the luxurious pool is the Bistro style Terrace Restaurant & Café-Bar. The comfortable lounge area is a relaxing social venue with an informal atmosphere. Outside on the patio, tables at the water's edge offer marvellous views and are an idyllic setting for summer barbeques.

Wainwrights Inn Traditional Lakeland Pub:
A short, pleasant walk from the Estate to Chapel Stile brings you to Wainwrights' Inn, a traditional Lakeland Pub with stone flagged floors, open fires and real ale. Originally part of a 200 year old Cumbrian farmhouse, it has been carefully restored and decorated retaining many local antiques and curiosities. The hotel is just outside Ambleside, one of the jewels of the Lakes, set in the centre of the Lake District at the head of Lake Windermere. Blessed with beautiful scenery, this bustling market town provides everything a visitor could want – from the numerous shops offering wares for walkers and climbers to the many eating and drinking establishments.

From the South -
Leave the M6 at Junction 36, take the A591 by-passing Kendal.
Follow this Lakeland route past Windermere to Ambleside.
Turn left on to the A593.
At Skelwith Bridge turn right on to the B5343 & follow signs for Langdale.

From the North -
Leave the M6 at Junction 40.
Take the A66 towards Keswick, then left via the B5322 on to the A591 via Grasmere to Ambleside.
Turn right on to the A593.
At Skelwith Bridge turn right on to the B5343 & follow signs for Langdale.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for cots.
All older children or adults are charged GBP 20.00 per night and person for extra beds.
There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.
