   A small family-run hotel with after dinner entertainment provided by the host. 5 miles east of Durham city, on the B1283 road at Haswell Plough.John and Dorcas Milner have been the owners of The Gables Hotel for the past 23 years and have lived in the village of Haswell Plough for the past 38 years. The Gables is a small family-run hotel which has a very good reputation for its fine English foods. It has been recommended by the AA and Les Routiers. The restaurant is small but quaint and cosy. |

Most of our bedrooms have bath and shower facilities. All bedrooms and the dining room are no-smoking areas.
The GABLES Hotel is on the B1283 road approximately 5 miles east of Durham City, one of the worlds most famous and historic cities. The Cathedral and Castle date back to the 9th Century and are very beautiful. One of England’s most famous open air museums, Beamish, is only a half hours drive, and is a must for anyone visiting the North East of England. If you enjoy football, we have three Premier teams all within a half hours drive. St. James’ Park, home of Newcastle United, the Stadium of Light, home of Sunderland A.F.C. and the B.T. Riverside Stadium, home of Middlesbrough Football Club. If you prefer shopping, we have Europe’s largest shopping centres, The Metro Centre Gateshead, and Eldon Square in Newcastle. Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later, the first night will be charged. In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome. All children under 4 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots. There is no capacity for extra beds in the room. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included. Service charge is included. City/tourist tax is not applicable. Internet: Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge. Meal Plan: Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. Parking: Free private parking is possible on site (reservation is not possible). Pets: Pets are allowed on request. No extra charges.
