Overlooking the ruins of Torthorwald Castle, The Manor Country House Hotel has been under its current ownership for just 2 years. It has quickly become one of the best restaurants in the Dumfries region, with 2 chefs offering a wide and varied menu to suite all dietary requirements.

The accommodation varies from the extremely popular Criffel family room to singles and doubles. Rooms are ideal for the holidaymaker and business person alike; in addition to the extremely comfortable beds, they also feature the little extras that one would expect from a caring family-run hotel.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and en suite, and 2 rooms have both a bath and electric shower. All rooms now have a choice of Sky TV channels and free Wi-Fi internet access.

The family room is particularly popular with the king-size bed for adults and a minimum of 3 single beds for children.

The Manor Country House Hotel boasts 2 excellent chefs, with food available 7 days a week for bar meals at lunchtime and evenings. The Manor Restaurant is open every evening as well as Sunday lunchtime for its popular carvery. This is more than just hotel food, which is confirmed by the superb reviews that the food receives from hotel guests and locals.

Dumfries and Galloway can boast some of the loveliest scenery and the nearby Solway coast with superb beaches merits a visit.
Cycling at Ae or Mabie Forest, water sports at Loch Ken, fishing on the River Annan can keep any visitor busy.
However it is the Golf courses which attract many visitors to the region and the Hotel has 11 courses within easy reach, the nearest being the Pines Golf Course which is only five minutes away. This course also boasts a floodlit practice range.
Dumfries of course is famous for its links with Robert Burns but there is not enough space on this link to mention all of them. That is for a separate conversation.

The hotel is situated on the A709, 4 miles from Dumfries and 8 miles from Lockerbie, off junction 17/18 from the main M74 North/South motorway between England and Scotland.

It is also only 2.5 miles off the A75 Carlisle to Stranraer route to the Irish Ferry terminal. Travelling time to Stranraer is approximately one and a half hours, making the hotel an ideal stopping off point.

Dumfries and Lockerbie railway stations are also only a matter of 15 minutes away. The city of Carlisle can be reached by train in around 35 minutes from both stations.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, 10 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled later, the first night will be charged.
In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 3 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
All older children or adults are charged GBP 15.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.

Deposit Policy: 10 percent of the total amount will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Internet: Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge.

Meal Plan: Full English breakfast is included in the room rate.

Parking: Free public parking is possible on site.
