Also a popular destination for hiking, mountain-biking and white-water rafting, the unspoilt beauty of its mountain, lake and alpine forest scenery has led to the formation of a number of UNESCO national parks. By the summer of 2008, Bansko will also be home to its 1st 18-hole golf course, designed by pro golfer Ian Woosnam.

Velyanov House (600 metres) - built in the early 19th century for Velyan Ognev (master builder and painter), the house contains many original woodcarvings, murals and is a superb example of Revival Period architecture.

The Church of the Holy Trinity (600 metres) - built in 1835, this church contains a number of intricate and beautiful artistic features. Its belfry now dominates the town skyline.
